- In upper secondary education, selected schools, designated by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), is referred to as "Super Science High Schools (SSHs)". Each SSH has developed enriched curricula, teaching methods and materials on science and mathematics in cooperation with universities and research institutes.
